Founded in 2008 through initial funding from Mark E. Galant (McIntire ’80), The Galant Center for Entrepreneurship is dedicated to advancing the study and practice of entrepreneurship. The Galant Center develops innovative curricula, engages in significant research, and organizes real-world events promoting entrepreneurship within UVA and the surrounding community. Experiential learning is an important element of the Galant Center. Through Center-sponsored activities, students are exposed to seasoned entrepreneurs, successful angels and venture capitalists, and other practitioners who share both their successes and obstacles in creating, building, and financing entrepreneurial ventures.
The Galant Center collaborates with the Entrepreneurship Group at McIntire, the UVA Entrepreneurial Society, and other organizations around Grounds to engage speakers and to promote relevant activities around entrepreneurship. The Galant Center is constantly reaching out to and engaging McIntire alumni in its activities as guest speakers, competition judges, and event attendees.
